TALOFA & WELCOME TO SAMOA WATER AUTHORITY!
About Our Organization
The Samoa Water Authority (SWA) was established in September of 1993 under the Water Authority Act 1993/1994, which was updated by the Samoa Water Authority Act 2003. SWA is a state-owned enterprise which reports to a Board of Directors appointed by Government.
We currently employ approximately299 staff in delivering water services to approximately 89% of Samoa’s population. The majority of the remaining population receives water from independent village water schemes (District Water Committees).
SWA is also responsible for managing, operating and maintaining the Wastewater Treatment Plan and Apia Pressure Sewer Network – delivering wastewater services to 123 commercial customers in the Apia CBD.
Water Truck is available for purchase for non-SWA customers at an affordable pricing. However, it can be offered to our registered customers if are experiencing no water only if the bill is cleared
Responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of the wastewater collection and treatment scheme which is in the Apia Central Business area and National Hospital of Samoa
The Authority offers a free survey to any bill dispute to check if there are any non-visible or neglected water leaks within households and lands that could have caused high bill
I believe that our work is not just about providing a vital service, but also about making a positive impact on our community. The Bible verse “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39) reminds us of the importance of serving others and treating them with respect. In our daily work, we strive to embody this principle, ensuring that our actions reflect our commitment to serving our community and providing them with the highest quality of service.

WATER IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY
Dry Season
By reducing the amount of water we use, we can better protect against future drought
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES & MORE
From sports & swimming pools to public gardens. Failing to conserve water now can mean losing out on such uses later on
PRESERVING THE ENVIRONMENT
Reducing our water usages reduces the energy required to process and deliver it to homes, businesses, farms, and communities, which, in turn, helps to reduce pollution and conserve fuel resources
SAVE MONEY
To guard against rising costs & potential conflicts. These include rising costs, reduced food supplies, health hazards, and political conflict.
BUILD & STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES
Firefighters, hospitals, gas stations, street cleaners, health clubs, gyms, and restaurants all require large amounts of water to provide services to the community
SIMPLE WAYS TO SAVE WATER
CHECK FAUCETS AND PIPES FOR LEAKS.
Even a small drip can waste 50 or more gallons of water a day. Here’s a handy trick: check your meter two hours before and after no water is running in the house. If the reading on the meter has moved, it’s because there is a leakage.
TURN OFF THE TAPS.
Don’t let your water consumption run out of control. Save 6 litres of water a minute by turning off your tap while you brush your teeth
CATCH RAINWATER
Installing rain barrels saves up to 5,000 liters of water a year . And your plants will thank you for rainwater rather than treated tap water.
INVEST IN A HIGH-EFFICIENCY WASHING MACHINE
Traditional washing machines consume up to 54 gallons of water per cycle. A high-efficiency washing machine can cut down this consumption to 7 gallons per cycle. High-efficiency washing machines do not only help in saving water but also energy.
CONSIDER PLANTING DROUGHT TOLERANT PLANTS
One of the best ways to save water in your garden is to seed drought-tolerant plants. Bougainvillea, Lithops, Lantana, Verbena, Portulaca, Oleander, Sage, and Poppy are some of the common drought-tolerant plants that homeowners favor. These plants will beautify your garden and home without demanding any water.
